Carpathian Spruce/Bog Oak OM. I only recently met

Carpathian Spruce/Bog Oak OM.

I only recently met Miguel Girão and his guitar playing blew me away. He not only has skill & talent, but also a range of styles and techniques that I've not seen before. I was showing him a couple of guitars that I had made and then I realised that he'd be a great musician to record a demo. So I asked him...and that was that!

The song is one of Miguel's arrangements of a traditional tune - The Deerness Reel. It is from his latest EP entitled The Northern Isles Suite.

Thank you to everybody who expressed interest in my (ancient) Bog Oak/Carpathian Spruce OM & who came to my studio workshop to try it out. The response & feedback I got was overwhelmingly positive.

It'll still be coming with me to @stringbreak_uk, March 22nd, Harrogate UK, so you'll still get to see & play it if you're coming along.

Not unlike the other Bog Oak OM I made a couple of years ago, this one again was a very unique guitar, with an equally unique voice. I will definitely be making more guitars with Bog Oak in the future!

Time to glue the bridge onto this Bog Oak/Carpathian Spruce OM for @stringbreak_uk.

As you may have seen in my previous reel, the footprint of the bridge was masked off during finishing, to keep the lacquer off this area. Then after the guitar is polished, the bridge is scalpeled around to remove the lacquer in this area & expose the bare spruce soundboard. This allows for a good wood to wood contact when gluing the bridge on.
